BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. — The parents and grandparents of a 2-month-old baby who died in February have been arrested and charged in connection with his death.

Chloe Marnell and Jayhlen Washington, the baby’s parents, face charges of involuntary manslaughter and negligent child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

The grandparents, Eddie Hollingsworth and Danika Holloway, are charged with negligent child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

All four were taken into custody on September 19.

According to arrest warrants, Marnell and Washington used cocaine while caring for the baby, co-slept with the infant wrapped in a blanket, and allowed the child to sleep in a home with no heat during cold weather. The grandparents were also accused of allowing the baby to remain in the unheated home.

Marnell is being held on an $80,000 secured bond, Washington on $100,000, and Hollingsworth and Holloway each on $40,000 secured bonds.

The official cause of the baby’s death has not yet been released.
