In a significant strike against the illegal narcotics trade, the Narcotics Cell of the Pune Police arrested four individuals on April 30 for selling Ganja at two major transit points in the city.
The anti-narcotics squad carried out two operations, one near Wakdewadi bus stand and the other near Pune Railway Station, leading to the apprehension of the accused.
The arrested have been identified as Pappu Devri (32) and Chandan Kunwar (29), both residents of Odisha, along with Rakesh Pawra (25) and a minor from Dhule district.
According to police officials, the first operation was initiated following a tip-off during a routine patrol near Pune Railway Station. Acting promptly, the team detained Pappu and Chandan and recovered 30 kilograms of Ganja, with an estimated street value of Rs6.24 lakh.
The Narcotics Cell is continuing its investigation to trace the drug supply network and determine whether the suspects are part of a larger syndicate.
