Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has arrested Pankaj Narjari (30) and Prem Bahadur Nepali (42) in connection with the murder and robbery of general physician Dr. Yogesh Chander Paul, whose body was discovered at his residence in Jangpura Extension on May 10, 2024.
The two were apprehended after an extensive manhunt stretching nearly 3,000 km, culminating near Dudhwa National Park close to the Dhangadhi border in Nepal.
Prem Bahadur is alleged to be the mastermind who masked his identity even from his co‑accused.
Investigators found that the gang recruited Nepalese women as maids to collect inside information about houses’ valuables and wealth. The two accused were part of this gang. Narjari, from Assam’s Sonitpur, and Prem Bahadur, a native of Chitwan district in Nepal, had been absconding and were declared wanted criminals in multiple cases.
On the day of the crime, Dr. Paul was alone at home; his wife was away. The perpetrators broke in, overpowered him, tied his hands, and strangled him. They stole Rs5 lakh in cash and 116‑140 grams of gold.
Both Narjari and Prem Bahadur had prior criminal cases: Narjari in a 2016 Mayapuri robbery case and Prem Bahadur for several burglary and theft charges since 2007.
The Delhi Police used surveillance and manual intelligence to trace them across multiple states. Two more accused with a reward of ₹50,000 each remain at large.
