A 32-year-old man has been arrested for the brutal murder of a differently-abled senior citizen and his wife during a burglary in Maharashtra’s Latur district. The police identified the accused as Pandit Kondiba Ravnkule, a resident of Garsoli village with a known criminal background.
The heinous crime occurred during the night of May 25–26 at a farmhouse in Garsoli, under the Renapur Police Station. According to police, Ravnkule attempted to rob the couple and killed them when they resisted. He fatally assaulted the woman with a pressure cooker, stone, and bricks, and then threw her differently-abled husband into a well after beating him.
The motive behind the crime was both revenge and theft, as the woman had previously accused Ravnkule of being a thief. The accused fled the scene with the woman’s gold ornaments.
The Local Crime Branch, under the direction of SP Somay Munde and Additional SP Ajay Deore, cracked the case in just 12 hours. A team led by Inspector Sanjeevan Mirkale arrested Ravnkule from his residence late Tuesday night.
Ravnkule confessed during interrogation, citing his long-standing grudge and intent to steal. The investigation also revealed his involvement in prior theft-related offenses.
