Pandi Mayor and Councilor Arrested for 2019 Rape Charges
BULACAN, Philippines – On Tuesday, December 17, the mayor of Pandi, Enrico Roque, along with councilor Jonjon Roxas and Roel Raymundo, were arrested on charges of rape filed in 2019. The arrests were made at Amana Waterpark in Pandi at approximately 1 p.m., according to a report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
The three suspects are now in custody at the Northern Police District custodial facility, awaiting their scheduled court appearances.
Police Lieutenant Gladys Co, the NCRPO information officer, clarified that although the rape complaints were filed in 2019, the issuance of arrest warrants was delayed due to the complexities of the case and the necessary legal steps. Arrest warrants were issued only after careful evaluation of the evidence by the prosecution.
“Honorable Maria Rowena Violago Alejandria, the presiding judge of RTC Branch 121 in Caloocan City, found probable cause to believe that the accused committed the crimes charged,” Co stated.
While authorities are still working to locate the complainants, Co emphasized that ensuring the victims’ safety is a priority. “We cannot release any details that might compromise their privacy or safety,” she said. “Given the sensitive nature of the case, we are focused on protecting the well-being of the victims.”
