Panaji Police Arrest Giri in Food Cart Theft Case

Stolen food cart worth Rs1.2 lakh recovered swiftly

Panaji: Panaji Police swiftly solved a food cart theft case, arresting the accused within a day of the complaint.

The offence was registered on January 27, 2026, following a complaint by Sarika, wife of Shanu Gawde, a resident of H. No. 829 near Maruti Temple, Miramar, Panaji. She reported that during the night of January 25–26, her food cart along with items kept inside was stolen from the Miramar area. The total estimated value of the stolen property was Rs1.20 lakh.

Police investigations led to the identification and arrest of Giri, son of Jana Gawas, 43, resident of H. No. 830/A near Dhempe College, Miramar. He was apprehended on January 28, 2026. The stolen property was recovered, and further investigations are ongoing.
