RAPID CITY, S.D. — A Pennington County jury has found 30-year-old Pam White Butterfly of Rapid City guilty of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

White Butterfly was accused in a February shooting that killed 68-year-old Lenart Brown Eyes and seriously injured his 66-year-old brother, Gerard Brown Eyes, inside Lenart’s home on East New York Street.

During closing arguments, Pennington County State’s Attorney Lara Roetzel highlighted key evidence, including Lenart Brown Eyes identifying White Butterfly as the shooter during a 911 call, DNA evidence linking her to the crime, and the fact that she was found hiding in a dumpster and did not question her arrest.

Following the conviction, White Butterfly faces a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
