The Palghar police seized a significant haul of narcotic drugs on Saturday, arresting one individual in connection with a drug manufacturing operation in Boisar. The police found 1.2 kilograms of Mephedrone (MD), a synthetic stimulant, worth Rs2.42 crore in a raid conducted at a residential flat.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from Boisar police and the local Crime Branch raided flat no. 103 in building no. 17 of Colour City, Katkar Pada, around 2 am on Saturday. The officers seized 1,208 grams of Mephedrone, along with raw materials and equipment used for its production.
The arrested accused has been identified as Aman Naim Murad, a 29-year-old resident of Hakim Mohalla, Vasai. Murad was taken into custody under multiple sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, including Section 21 (concerning manufacturing narcotics), Section 22 (dealing with possession of narcotics above the small quantity but below commercial quantity), and Section 8(C) (prohibition of manufacturing and selling narcotics). He has been remanded in police custody until February 11.
The police are continuing their investigation and searching for four more suspects believed to be involved in the drug operation.
