Peenya police have arrested three women involved in a series of thefts targeting passengers on crowded Bengaluru city buses. The accused, identified as Padma, Anu, and a third unnamed associate, were reportedly using burkhas as disguises to blend in and avoid suspicion while committing the crimes.
According to police sources, the trio would board crowded buses during peak hours, creating confusion and taking advantage of the rush to steal gold jewellery and other valuables from unsuspecting passengers. The group had been active in several parts of the city and were finally tracked down after multiple complaints were filed.
Authorities said the women operated with a clear strategy, using their disguises and crowded conditions to avoid identification. The Peenya police managed to apprehend them following a targeted investigation. Stolen valuables were recovered during the arrest.
Investigations are still underway to determine if the accused are linked to other similar incidents across the city.
