P. Padmavathi Arrested in Rs5L Deepavali Chit Fund Fraud

R.K. Nagar Police Nab Tondiarpet Woman in Fraud Case

R.K. Nagar Police have arrested P. Padmavathi, 44, in connection with a Rs5 lakh Deepavali chit fund fraud.

Authorities revealed that Padmavathi, a resident of Tondiarpet, had been working at a local restaurant near the Power House area. The eatery, run by Selvi, also known as Tamilselvi, had announced plans to launch a Deepavali chit fund. Trusting the offer, Padmavathi convinced approximately 25 acquaintances to join the chit fund in 2024, unknowingly participating in the scam.

Police continue their investigation into the case to identify further connections and recover the defrauded money.
