Ottawa (March 23, 2025) — Between December 2023 and September 2024, an Ottawa man defrauded friends and acquaintances of over $240,000 in a fraudulent investment scheme. The Ottawa Police Service has now charged Timothy Laflamme, 39, with multiple counts of fraud.

Laflamme allegedly approached his victims with an enticing opportunity to invest in a real estate platform, claiming to be a qualified investor. He promised substantial returns on their investments. However, instead of using the money as promised, Laflamme used the funds to cover personal expenses and to invest in cryptocurrency.

The accused has been charged with eight counts of Fraud Over $5,000 and two counts of Fraud Under $5,000. Laflamme appeared in court yesterday to answer the charges.

If you or someone you know has been defrauded by Laflamme or have additional information regarding his scheme, the Ottawa Police Service Fraud Section encourages you to come forward. They can be reached at 613-236-1222, extension 5190, or via email at fraud@ottawapolice.ca.
