CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — Two men have been arrested for allegedly scamming a 92-year-old resident out of $250,000, authorities said.
Officials identified the suspects as Oral Durloo and Brandon Nairne. Authorities said the pair contacted the victim by phone in December 2025, falsely claiming he had won $18 million in a sweepstakes from the Publisher’s Clearing House.
According to investigators, Durloo and Nairne instructed the victim to write personal checks and withdraw funds to cover taxes allegedly associated with the prize.
The investigation was conducted with assistance from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD Financial Crimes Task Force, and the Suffolk County Police Financial Crimes Unit.
Both suspects were charged with grand larceny and held overnight for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.
