NEW ORLEANS — An Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy has been arrested on charges of malfeasance in office and theft.
Desiree Kinorri Brown, 40, was taken into custody on Oct. 31 after being accused of misappropriating funds collected from fellow deputies from the sale of commemorative badges.
Brown has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
“These funds were intended to support a legitimate internal initiative, and the misuse of any portion of those proceeds represents a serious breach of public trust and professional ethics,” OPSO Chief Charles Hutson said.
Brown faces one count of felony theft between $5,000 and $25,000 and one count of malfeasance in office.
