Jakob Oakly Charged With Rape and Kidnapping in Louisiana
Opelousas, LA – A 22-year-old Opelousas man, Jakob Sedrick Oakly, is facing serious felony charges following a violent incident that began at a local bar and ended in the Lawtell area.
According to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, Oakly is charged with first-degree rape, second-degree battery, second-degree kidnapping, and theft. Deputies were called to a residence southwest of Opelousas on September 18 for a trespassing complaint, where a woman reported being beaten and raped.
The investigation revealed that the alleged incident started at the Brass Rail Bar in Opelousas and escalated after the victim and suspect left the location. Authorities said the victim provided detailed information about the attack, which investigators were able to confirm.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated that Oakly is also alleged to have committed similar crimes in Lafayette earlier this year, including second-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping.
“We would like to thank the Opelousas Police Department for their assistance in helping bring this case forward,” Sheriff Guidroz added.
