Opal Teschky Arrested for Meth, Gun, and Credit Card Theft

Williamson County woman faces multiple felony charges

HERRIN, Ill. — A routine traffic stop on Nov. 24 led to the arrest of Opal M. Teschky, a Williamson County woman facing multiple felony charges for drugs, a firearm, and stolen credit cards.

Deputies from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office pulled over Teschky’s vehicle near Herrin Road and Park Avenue at approximately 9:28 p.m. after noticing the truck lacked a proper registration plate. Teschky was reportedly nervous and could not provide valid proof of insurance. Officers also observed an ATV in the truck bed that had been spray painted multiple colors and tampered with.

During a consent search, deputies discovered a metal tin containing cocaine residue. A subsequent probable-cause search revealed:

19.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine

3.2 grams of crack cocaine

Loaded Sig Sauer P226 9mm handgun

Digital scale with meth residue

Glass smoking device with meth residue

Three MasterCard debit cards belonging to another person

Drug paraphernalia

$1,612 in U.S. currency

The ATV was reported stolen, and the matter has been forwarded for further investigation.

Teschky, a convicted felon, was taken into custody without incident and faces the following charges:

Possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine (15-100g), Class X felony

Possession of methamphetamine (15-100g), Class 1 felony

Aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, Class 2 felony

Unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, Class 3 felony

Possession of a controlled substance, Class 4 felony

Possession of another person’s credit card, Class 4 felony

Possession of drug paraphernalia (x3), Class A misdemeanor

Operating uninsured vehicle, petty offense

Improper display of registration, petty offense

Sheriff Jeff Diedrich praised the deputies’ efforts: “Our deputies continue to remove dangerous narcotics, illegal firearms and those who choose to traffic in them from our communities. This case underscores the importance of vigilance and proactive policing.”

Teschky was remanded into the Williamson County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
