CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Omar Milligan, 47, a Charleston man, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking operation involving fentanyl and cocaine, and for possessing ammunition as a felon.
Milligan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and being a felon in possession of ammunition. Along with his prison sentence, he will also serve 10 years of supervised release after his incarceration.
Involvement in Drug Trafficking Network
Milligan was a key figure in a drug operation with national and international connections. In March 2022, he received 2.5 kilograms of fentanyl and coordinated to receive another batch after the first delivery. He used an apartment as a base for trafficking, where he was seen selling fentanyl and cocaine to other individuals.
Seizure of Drugs and Ammunition
A search warrant executed in August 2022 at Milligan’s apartment led to the seizure of:
1 kilogram of marijuana
6 grams of cocaine
Ammunition
As a convicted felon, Milligan was prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition.
Investigation and Detention
The investigation was carried out by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Charleston Police Department, and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office. Milligan is currently detained at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.
