A woman has been convicted of attempted murder after opening fire at a New Year’s Eve party, leaving an innocent man critically injured.
According to David Fornshell, 29-year-old Olivia Clendenin attended a New Year’s Eve gathering where both her husband and her boyfriend were present. The two men reportedly discovered they were each involved in a relationship with her during the event.
When Clendenin was unable to persuade her husband to leave, prosecutors say she left the party, retrieved a .40-caliber firearm, and returned to the scene.
Terrill, chief of the Clearcreek Township Police Department, said Clendenin drove into the yard, spun her vehicle in a donut maneuver, and fired multiple shots as she passed the front of the house.
Authorities say eight shots were fired. An uninvolved man sitting on the porch was struck in the stomach and nearly died from the injury.
After the shooting, Clendenin attempted to flee but crashed her vehicle.
Prosecutors say she now faces a potential minimum sentence of 10 years in prison. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
