OAKWOOD, Ga. — An Atlanta woman, identified as Olivia Braden, 30, is being held in the Hall County Jail following her arrest in connection with a widespread pharmacy prescription fraud investigation.
The Oakwood Police Department responded to the CVS pharmacy on McEver Road on May 25, after a pharmacist reported a woman allegedly attempted to obtain medication using a counterfeit prescription. Upon further checks, the pharmacist discovered that multiple pharmacies had filled prescriptions for the same suspect — and the name on the prescription had been flagged, prompting a 911 call.
Braden reportedly left the scene before officers arrived, but detectives used the identification she presented at the pharmacy to confirm her identity. Investigators uncovered evidence that she had been traveling throughout the metro Atlanta area, using forged prescription forms and stolen identities to fraudulently fill prescriptions.
On May 30, police located a vehicle matching Braden’s at the Publix Shopping Center in Oakwood. Moments later, Publix pharmacy staff contacted authorities to report she was inside attempting to fill another fake prescription.
She was arrested on the spot and now faces the following charges:
Possession of Schedule I or II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
Possession of Schedule IV Drugs
Forgery in the 1st Degree (4 counts)
Identity Fraud (Person or Business) (4 counts)
Hold for Other County
Braden remains in custody as investigations continue into the full extent of the alleged fraud ring.
