An Oklahoma man was arrested Monday by the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug and Gang Task Force after receiving a tip that he was en route to Clarke County to deliver a large quantity of cocaine. The arrest was made as part of a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies in northwestern Virginia.
The suspect, identified as Santos, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I/II controlled substance. He is being held without bond at the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center.
According to a statement from the task force, Santos is believed to be connected to a cartel organization based in Mexico. His arrest followed an ongoing investigation into regional drug trafficking and cartel activity.
The task force comprises personnel from several agencies, including the Page and Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Offices, and the Luray, Strasburg, and Winchester Police Departments, as well as the Virginia State Police.
