PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Two Ohio men were arrested in Parkersburg after police discovered them transporting illicit drugs into West Virginia, according to authorities.
On Friday, Dec. 5, detectives with the Parkersburg Police Department and agents from the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force (PNTF), working alongside patrol officers, were conducting surveillance as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation targeting drugs coming into West Virginia from Ohio.
The suspects were identified as Gibraun Gooden, 19, and Jamier Gooden, 22, both from Akron, Ohio. Detectives reported being familiar with Gibraun from previous investigations. The brothers were observed arriving at a location in Parkersburg and later getting into the backseat of a vehicle that subsequently became the focus of a traffic stop on West Virginia Route 95. A K-9 unit indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle.
Officers recovered nearly 100 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, 18 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and a small amount of marijuana. Investigators also found items consistent with the packaging and distribution of controlled substances.
Both Gibraun and Jamier Gooden were taken into custody and transported to the Parkersburg Police Department. They face charges of transporting controlled substances into the state for distribution and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
During arraignment in Wood County Magistrate Court, both suspects failed to post the $200,000 bond and remain in custody pending further proceedings.
