JEFFERSON, Iowa — A 47-year-old Ogden man has been arrested in connection with a theft investigation that began in March 2024. Craig Arthur was taken into custody after he was identified as the suspect involved in the theft of a purse and unauthorized use of a credit card.
The investigation started on March 7th when a Jefferson Police Officer responded to a report of a stolen purse. The victim informed the officer that a purchase had been made with their stolen credit card at a gas station in Grand Junction, totaling $53.53. The officer reviewed surveillance footage from the gas station and identified a male who made the purchase. The victim later confirmed the suspect’s identity, and further investigation revealed that the suspect had admitted to the crime to a third party.
On April 17th, an arrest warrant was issued for Craig Arthur, charging him with second-degree burglary (a Class C felony), unauthorized use of a credit card (an aggravated misdemeanor), and two counts of fifth-degree theft (simple misdemeanors).
Arthur was arrested on April 30th in Polk County and was recently booked into the Greene County Jail on February 20th.
