by Amelia Crawford

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A Montgomery police officer is facing criminal charges after being accused of electronically soliciting a child, according to the Montgomery Police Department.

Nicholas Robert Zachary, 22, was relieved of duty and arrested on Thursday. The allegations prompted an internal investigation that began on March 27, shortly after the department became aware of the situation.

Zachary, who had only recently joined MPD in 2024, was assigned to the Training and Career Development Bureau. Following standard procedure, he was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Authorities have not released details about the nature of the alleged solicitation or the age of the minor involved. The investigation remains ongoing.

MPD has stated no further information is currently available.
