Fresno, Calif. (FOX26) — A police officer with the Chowchilla Police Department has been arrested and placed on administrative leave following serious criminal charges.
Douglas Divine, 41, was taken into custody by Sanger police on Sunday and is facing multiple charges, including:
Kidnapping
False imprisonment with violence
Cruelty to a dependent child
Child endangerment
Criminal threats
The arrest occurred in Sanger, and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that Divine has been placed on leave, as required by law.
Chowchilla Police Chief confirmed Divine’s employment status and stated that the department is fully cooperating with the investigation. Further details about the alleged crimes and the circumstances leading to the arrest have not yet been released.
