High Point, N.C. — A High Point Police Department officer has been arrested following a domestic violence incident early Tuesday morning, according to police officials.

Officers responded to a home at 1:20 a.m. regarding a possible domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, they arrested 36-year-old David A. Bowles, charging him with one count of assault on a female.

According to a magistrate’s order, Bowles allegedly grabbed his spouse’s head, shook her, and headbutted her during the altercation.

Bowles, who joined the department in 2019, is currently being held at the Guilford County Jail on a domestic hold. He has also been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

In a public statement, High Point Police Chief Curtis Cheeks III emphasized the department’s commitment to accountability:

“The High Point Police Department remains committed to upholding standards of professionalism and accountability. Any allegation of criminal behavior, regardless of who is involved, will be investigated and addressed appropriately.”
