Odisha Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers, Seize 15.58 Grams of Brown Sugar

Three accused arrested in Jagatsinghpur district with drugs worth Rs 4.5 lakh.

In a significant operation, the Abhayachandpur police, in collaboration with local authorities, arrested three individuals and seized over 15.58 grams of brown sugar, valued at approximately Rs 4.5 lakh, on Sunday in Jagatsinghpur district. The seizure took place on Dalimpur Road, near Paradip IOCL Road.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sangram Dalai from Bagdia village, Bikram Nayak from Siju village, and Deepak Pati, a resident of the Tangi area in Khurda district. According to police, Dalai and Pati are repeat offenders with multiple prior cases registered against them at Paradip police station.

The operation was carried out based on reliable intelligence that led the police to Dalimpur, where the three were apprehended with the brown sugar. Authorities confirmed that the drugs were being brought from the Khurda area and were intended for distribution in various parts of Paradip.

Speaking about the operation, Paradip Additional Superintendent of Police, Smruti Ranjan Kar, stated that these individuals were heavily involved in the drug trade and had been smuggling narcotics to the region for some time. The police have vowed to intensify their efforts against narcotics trafficking in the region to curb the growing problem of illegal drug trade.

The three accused have been arrested and will be presented before the court, while further investigations are underway to trace their sources and potential accomplices in the drug network.
