Odisha Excise Seizes Heroin Worth Rs 51 Lakh, Arrests Two Peddlers

Cuttack officials nab drug traffickers smuggling heroin to Angul

Excise officials in Odisha’s Cuttack City seized heroin worth over Rs 51 lakh and arrested two drug peddlers during a routine patrol on Wednesday afternoon.

While patrolling the Manguli area, officials recovered 223 grams of heroin from one individual and 292 grams from another. The accused have been identified as Sipun Nayak from Dhenkanal district and Dibesh Nayak from Angul district. Both were arrested and later forwarded to court.

Sources revealed that the duo was smuggling heroin from Balasore to Angul.

In a related incident, the Special Task Force (STF) in Bhubaneswar arrested Jyotikrishna Samantray from Bomikhal village, Khurda district. During a raid near the Air Field Police Station, officials seized 263 grams of brown sugar from him.

These operations reflect the ongoing efforts by Odisha law enforcement to clamp down on drug trafficking within the state.
