MONROE, La. (April 2025) – Octavious Straughter, age 20, has been arrested and charged in connection with a triple shooting that occurred in Monroe in late 2024. He faces three counts of attempted second-degree murder.
According to court records, the Monroe Police Department responded to the shooting on Ben Franklin Drive on December 30, 2024, at 7:49 p.m.. Three victims were found injured — two in critical condition and the third with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the incident began as a physical altercation among several women when a man reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired into the group. After reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses, police identified Straughter as the suspected shooter.
An arrest warrant was issued, and Straughter was taken into custody nearly four months later, on April 21, 2025. He was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center, and his bond has been set at $225,000.
The case remains under investigation.
