Oconee County Authorities Arrest Stephon Samuel in 2022 Auto Thefts

Second arrest made in connection with vehicle break-ins in Walhalla

WALHALLA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has made a second arrest in connection with a 2022 investigation involving auto break-ins and thefts at two separate locations.

On June 30, 2022, the sheriff’s office sought public assistance regarding a vehicle break-in and theft at Lake Hartwell State Park near Fair Play. The victims reported that their vehicle had been broken into, and items including their wallets, banking cards, credit cards, two CWP cards, and a driver’s license were stolen.

Additionally, deputies connected the incident to two other vehicle break-ins that occurred at Chau Ram County Park near Westminster on June 26, 2022.

Breon Antwon Davis, with addresses listed in Spartanburg and Fort Lauderdale, FL, was arrested on October 28, 2022 in connection with these thefts. He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on multiple charges, including three counts each of breaking into a motor vehicle and petit larceny, and one count of grand larceny.

On January 13, 2025, Stephon Shaquille Samuel, 30, was also arrested and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center. Samuel faces similar charges: three counts of petit larceny, three counts of breaking into a motor vehicle, and one count of grand larceny. His bond is set at $31,375.

Both suspects have been linked to the series of vehicle break-ins and thefts, and Samuel remains in custody as of the latest report.
