Deomali, Tirap District (Arunachal Pradesh) — In a significant crackdown on local narcotics trade, police arrested a woman, Nyamyang Thingnok, from Batey Colony on charges of drug trafficking, officials confirmed on Friday.
The operation, led by Inspector Wangke Ronrang, was based on credible intelligence inputs and conducted in the presence of two independent witnesses.
Initially, a search of Nyamyang’s residence yielded no contraband. However, upon sustained questioning, the accused led police to a rented room located beneath her house. There, inside an iron trunk, officers discovered:
58.8 grams of contraband substances, packed in soap cases
The drugs were wrapped in black polythene and white tissue paper
Additionally, the police recovered Rs1.2 lakh in cash, suspected to be the proceeds from drug sales.
A formal case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the supply chain and distribution network.
Authorities lauded the efforts of the local police for their alertness and effective response to the growing drug menace in the region.
