Vikarabad, Telangana: In a shocking case of familial betrayal, 25-year-old nurse Surekha has been arrested for allegedly murdering her parents, N Dasaratham (58) and Lakshmi (54), in Yacharam village, Vikarabad district.
Police received information on January 25 regarding the deaths of the couple. Relatives initially suggested that Dasaratham had died by suicide and that Lakshmi passed away from shock. However, police suspicion grew during the inspection of the scene, where a blood-stained syringe was recovered.
Investigators discovered that Surekha, employed at a private hospital in Sangareddy district, had stolen a muscle-relaxing drug used in surgeries without hospital authorization. She allegedly administered a lethal overdose to her parents under the pretext of giving them medication to help them relax.
Police matched the serial number of the drug with hospital records, confirming it belonged to a batch from the hospital where Surekha worked. The accused had taken leave on the day of the murder to visit her parents’ home.
Surekha’s boyfriend has been cleared of any involvement, and the accused is now in judicial custody. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and the investigation continues.
