In a significant operation to curb drug trafficking, Nurpur district police have successfully dismantled an inter-state drug racket. The arrest took place at a checkpoint on the Pathankot-Mandi national highway under Nurpur police station jurisdiction, where police intercepted a car and seized 4.30 kg of charas.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Amit Kaushal – from Aman Avenue, Amritsar
Gurpreet Singh – from Majitha Road, Amritsar
A case has been filed under Sections 20, 25, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Interrogation of the accused revealed they were part of a larger inter-state drug trafficking operation, supplying narcotics to local dealers.
Following the investigation, the police were able to identify additional members of the network and arrested Beas Dev from Chaeel village (Jaangi) in Chamba district late yesterday evening.
In a separate investigation, the Nurpur Police solved a theft case reported on April 5 at the Rehan police station. The theft occurred in Narnooh village, where jewellery and cash were stolen from the house of a BSF jawan. The complainant, Mamta Devi, the wife of the BSF jawan, had filed the FIR.
Through meticulous investigation and circumstantial evidence, the police identified the suspects and arrested:
Yusaf Sippu – from Old Gangath, Indora
Sahil – from Barot, Fatehpur sub-division
The police seized Rs 20,000 in cash and a motorcycle used in the crime. Additionally, Kiran, the mother of Yusaf Sippu, was arrested for her role in assisting the suspects to sell the stolen jewellery.
The investigations continue, and the police are working to recover any remaining stolen property and identify other potential suspects involved in the theft.
