Nuapada SP Gundala Reddy Nabs Drug Racket Trio

In a decisive crackdown on drug trafficking, Nuapada police arrested three individuals from Dhobipada in the Jonk area for illegal possession of contraband narcotic injections intended for sale.

Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra announced on Wednesday that the accused—Aktar Mahammad (55), his son Sohel Mahammad (23), and Sharukh Khan (32)—were taken into custody on Saturday night from their residence in Ward No. 13, Dhobipada under Khariar Road within the Jonk police jurisdiction.

A raid at their home led to the recovery of 622 pentazocine lactate injections (30 mg), a prescription drug often misused as a narcotic. The injections were stored in polythene bags and paper envelopes. Police also seized two mobile phones from the location.

“We acted on credible intelligence and caught them red-handed with a significant amount of contraband,” said SP Raghavendra. “This is part of our ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the district.”

A case has been registered under Section 111(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 21(a) and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. Police are interrogating the accused further to uncover the supply network and identify any accomplices. Investigations are underway to trace the source of the banned substance.
