Noida Police have arrested a gang of six people allegedly involved in stealing cars from Noida and neighboring districts, recovering four vehicles in their possession, including two SUVs and two sedans.
The arrest followed the theft of an Aligarh-registered Maruti Suzuki Brezza in Sector 39 during the second week of January. Police said the gang used their own car to scout low-security areas and, after targeting a vehicle, unlocked it using a key programmer worth around Rs2 lakh.
“After breaking the lock, they placed a GPS jammer in the car to disable its location tracking before selling it in surrounding districts,” said Shavya Goyal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida.
The ADCP added that the suspects have been involved in similar crimes for several years. Three of the stolen SUVs were traced back to Ghaziabad, Noida, and Rajasthan, along with key programmers, GPS jammers, and other equipment used for car theft.
The arrested suspects are:
Sameer (33), Saalim (38), Salim (45) – residents of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh
Mohsin (38), Faisal (23) – residents of Jodhpur, Rajasthan
Azad (56) – resident of Dayalpur, Delhi
Police records show multiple prior offenses: 38 cases for Azad, 14 for Sameer, 7 for Saalim, 4 for Salim, and 3 each for Mohsin and Faisal, including theft and Arms Act violations.
The suspects have been booked under Sector 39 police station for theft, and further investigations are ongoing to track other stolen vehicles and accomplices.
