Noida Police Cybercrime Branch arrested four men on Wednesday for allegedly running a fake employment office in Sector 132, Noida, duping over 100 job seekers across India. The suspects promised employment on cruise ships but collected money from victims instead.
The accused are:
Rahul, 25
Prashant, 25
Saif, 25
Vishal Sharma, 20
Police revealed that over the past year, the suspects allegedly received around Rs1 crore through two bank accounts. Multiple complaints from states including Kerala, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh prompted the investigation.
A joint team of the Cybercrime Branch and Sector 126 police raided the fake marine office using electronic surveillance on Tuesday. Investigators found that the gang frequently changed locations—from Sector 62 to Sector 132—and had plans to move again within days.
The modus operandi involved collecting contact details from employment websites, contacting job seekers, and inviting them for interviews at the fake office. Once convinced of the firm’s authenticity, victims were charged Rs1–1.2 lakh for supposed employment.
Police also noted that a woman from Telangana had visited the office for an interview prior to the raid. Authorities have informed her of the fraud.
Items seized from the suspects include three laptops, seven mobile phones, 26 call data sheets, four joining letters, and other documents.
The accused were booked under sections related to cheating and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act at the Cybercrime Branch police station. Further investigation is ongoing.
