A fake call center operating in Noida, masquerading as a travel agency to dupe individuals with promises of overseas job placements, has been uncovered by the Sector 63 police. Authorities arrested three individuals—a man and a woman—who were central to the scam.
The investigation began after a complaint was lodged at the Sector 63 police station, alleging that a company named “Global Travels” had defrauded 200-250 people over the past three months. Victims who visited the company’s office found it locked, raising suspicions.
Acting on confidential information, the police apprehended the suspects and recovered Rs6.9 lakh in cash, along with five mobile phones, a Samsung tablet, and a pen drive.
The accused had advertised their fraudulent services on social media and created a WhatsApp group for interested applicants. They issued counterfeit appointment letters, enticing victims with the promise of jobs abroad. The gang collected passports from victims, prepared fake visas, and even created dummy air tickets before destroying the passports to eliminate evidence.
Upon interrogation, the culprits admitted to establishing “Global Travels” at H-73, Sector 63, Noida, and using fake visas to scam individuals. Another accomplice, Prempal Rayakwar, is also believed to be involved in the operation.
