Noel Zamora and Fernando Villarreal Arrested in Zapata

Traffic stop leads to gun, drug charges in Zapata County

ZAPATA COUNTY, Tex. (KGNS) — Two individuals were arrested following a traffic stop in Zapata County, authorities said.

On October 12, Noel Zamora and Fernando Villarreal were pulled over on Davis Lane and U.S. Highway 83 by Zapata County Sheriff’s deputies.

During the stop, officers found a firearm in the vehicle, which Zamora admitted to possessing despite having a previous felony conviction.

Villarreal was discovered to have an active extraditable warrant in Hidalgo County and disclosed possession of drugs during the stop.

Both individuals were detained and taken to Zapata County Regional Jail.

Authorities confirmed the following charges:

Noel Zamora: unlawful possession of a firearm

Fernando Villarreal: possession of a controlled substance and an out-of-county felony warrant
