Two men, Nizar (44) and Shameem (36), both residents of Azheekode, were arrested in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Muhammad Hashir at Nedumangad market on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 8 PM following a violent dispute that originated at a local bar hotel.
Shameem was apprehended Monday morning, while Nizar, the prime accused, was detained later that evening by Nedumangad police. CCTV footage from the bar shows a heated verbal exchange between the suspects and the victim, which escalated into the fatal stabbing.
After the attack, the accused fled on a motorcycle, which police later seized. Authorities are interrogating the suspects as forensic and autopsy reports are awaited. Both men have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days as the investigation continues.
