Nissar Gagroo Held with 450g Charas in Anantnag

Kokernag Police foil drug peddling bid at Soaf Shali

As part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking, Anantnag Police have scored another success with the arrest of a local drug peddler and the recovery of a significant quantity of narcotics.

According to police, a team from Police Station Kokernag apprehended Nissar Ahmad Gagroo, son of Ali Mohammad Gagroo, a resident of Soaf Shali, during a routine naka check at Soaf Shali on Sunday.

Upon searching him, officers recovered 450 grams of Charas powder from his possession. The contraband has been seized, and legal proceedings have been initiated.

A case FIR No. 84/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kokernag, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify possible accomplices.

The Anantnag Police reiterated their commitment to keeping the district drug-free and have called upon the public to support their efforts. They encouraged residents to report any information related to drug activity, assuring that the identity of informers will remain confidential.

This arrest adds to a series of recent operations that have disrupted drug networks operating in the region.
