In a major breakthrough, Bheempur police unearthed a human trafficking racket by apprehending a couple from Maharashtra who allegedly abducted and sold a 16-year-old minor girl to a man in Rajasthan.
The accused, identified as Nirmala (47) and her husband Bapunya Rajaram from Kinhi village in Yavatmal district, Maharashtra, were arrested at Adilabad railway station on Saturday morning. A third accomplice, Karan alias Bhagavath from Kota, Rajasthan, remains at large.
Police said the couple orchestrated the girl’s abduction and arranged her transfer across state lines for illicit sale. Authorities are investigating further to determine the full extent of the racket and locate the fugitive suspect.
