Nine individuals have been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of 35-year-old sevadar Yogendra Singh at Kalkaji Temple, police confirmed on Monday, September 1, 2025.
The victim, who had served at the temple for nearly 15 years, was beaten to death on Friday night following a dispute over the distribution of ‘prasad’. Witnesses reported that Singh was attacked after he could not provide ‘chunni prasad’, which had already run out for the day. The assault involved punches and blows with sticks.
Prime accused Atul Pandey was apprehended at the scene by locals. The other arrested individuals include Kuldeep Bidhuri (20), Mohan Bidhuri alias Bhura (19), Nitin Pandey (27), Sandeep Bidhuri (33), Monu Kangar (31), Rohit Bidhuri (24), Anil Pandey (46), and Babu (40). Authorities stated that Anil, Nitin’s father, and Babu were detained for harboring the attackers and criminal conspiracy.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari said teams are reviewing CCTV footage, analyzing technical evidence, and questioning witnesses to locate additional suspects. “We will arrest all those involved in the assault soon. No one will be spared,” he added.
