In a chilling case of mass murder, Jabalpur police arrested nine individuals on Tuesday in connection with the brutal killing of four youths in Timri village, located under Patan police station jurisdiction. The murders, reportedly stemming from a long-standing family enmity linked to gambling and panchayat elections, shocked the region.
The deceased were identified as Satish Pathak, Manish Pathak, Aniket Dubey, and Sameer Dubey. Two others, Bipin Dubey and Mukesh Dubey, were injured during the attack.
According to Jabalpur SP Sampat Upadhyay, the incident was a premeditated assault orchestrated by members of the Sahu family, who lured the victims to a tea stall before launching a deadly attack using swords, axes, and sticks. The motive traces back to a simmering dispute between the Pathak and Sahu families, ignited during local panchayat elections.
The police acted swiftly, arresting seven suspects from a hotel in Pachmarhi and two others from separate locations in Jabalpur, within 24 hours of the incident. The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Narayan Sahu
Chandrabhan Sahu
Dinnu Sahu
Manoj Sahu
Sarvesh Sahu
Vivek Sahu
Amit Sahu
Pradeep Sahu
Sandeep Namdev
An FIR has been filed under relevant sections, and interrogation is ongoing. Police also confirmed that six of the nine accused already have criminal records.
In response to alleged negligence, the Nunsar outpost in-charge has been line attached, and further departmental action is expected as investigations continue.
The families of the victims had blocked local roads in protest, demanding justice and swift action, which the police delivered with rapid arrests and public reassurance.
