Nine Arrested in Himachal Pradesh Drug Bust, 42.4 gm Heroin Seized

Police Crackdown Leads to Multiple Arrests and Recovery of Drugs

A significant crackdown on drug trafficking in Himachal Pradesh led to the arrest of nine individuals, including a Punjab resident, and the seizure of 42.4 gm of heroin (chitta) along with Rs 50,000 in cash in two separate incidents.

In the first operation, acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a house in Kudidhar village, located in Rampur Sub-Division of Shimla district, and arrested five individuals. The accused were identified as Rohit (40), a resident of Bhadurpur, Hoshiarpur district, Punjab; Vijay Kumar (32), from Banol village, Mandi district; and Ajay Kumar (34), Rohan (28), and Piyush (18), all residents of Pandoh, Mandi.

The police seized 42.4 gm of heroin and Rs 50,000 from their possession. Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Naresh Sharma confirmed the arrests and stated that a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act had been registered at the Rampur Police Station, with further investigations underway.

In a separate operation, four individuals were arrested in Hayun village, located in Shimla’s Summerhill area, after being found in possession of 11.52 gm of heroin. The police had received a tip-off about youths possessing drugs.

The arrested individuals were Rajat Sharma (21) from Ghurkhadi village, Mandi (currently residing in Hayun, Shimla), Smriti Thakur (23) of Majhroi village, Vinay Chauhan (32) from Bholad village, Jubbal, and Abhishek Verma (26) from Devnagar, Shimla.

The contraband was recovered during a raid at their rented accommodation, and the four were immediately taken into custody. Cases under the NDPS Act have been registered, and investigations are ongoing to trace the broader drug supply chain in the region.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying action against drug networks operating in the region and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
