In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Bengaluru police arrested 41-year-old Nigerian national Sarah Kumama, known by the aliases “Happiness” and “Blessings,” for her role in a transnational cocaine supply network. The operation has led to the arrest of 25 individuals across Tamil Nadu since January.
Sarah played a crucial role in distributing cocaine across multiple cities including Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. Her arrest followed a special team’s thorough investigation and marked a significant breakthrough in dismantling the extensive drug ring.
The crackdown began on January 25 with the arrests of Fayaz Ahmed, 31, from Royapettah, and S Chandrasekar, 35, from Koyambedu, both caught with cocaine by a joint team of the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit and Choolaimedu police. Notably, Fayaz Ahmed has a pending murder case.
Other key arrests include Nigerian nationals Eko Nathanial Chibuzor from Mumbai and Ebere Moses Obogodo from Bengaluru, apprehended in March. Nathanial was identified as a primary supplier to Chennai-based peddlers. Additionally, pub DJ Julian Dishan, 33, and bar manager M Arunraj, 29, were arrested for allegedly distributing cocaine at a Nungambakkam nightclub. The accused list also features four individuals under the age of 21.
Investigators recovered 65 grams of cocaine, 1.7 kg of ganja, ganja oil, OG ganja, 20 mobile phones, multiple vehicles, and weighing machines during the bust.
Police confirmed that efforts continue to trace further links within the supply chain.
