Two Nigerian nationals, Ilo Ebuka Titus and Kanu Arinze, were sentenced for drug trafficking at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) court after being found guilty of possessing heroin and cannabis.

The two men were arrested on March 13, 2024, during an intelligence-led operation. They were initially detained in the Nyamakima area of Nairobi by detectives from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit, assisted by the Anti-Narcotics Unit. Following their arrest, they guided the officers to their residences in Umoja and Sunton, where authorities recovered 39.04 grams of heroin and 25.71 grams of cannabis.

The pair pleaded guilty to the charges, and the court imposed a fine of KSh30 million on each of them. Should they fail to pay, they will serve a 12-month prison sentence. Additionally, the court ruled that both men would be repatriated to Nigeria upon completion of their sentences or payment of the fine.

In a further ruling, the court ordered the destruction of all narcotics seized in connection with the case.
