In a major narcotics bust, the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police’s anti-narcotics cell (ANC) arrested Victor Odichinma, a 37-year-old Nigerian man, for allegedly manufacturing mephedrone (MD) in two flats in Vasai. The police seized contraband worth Rs11.08 crore, including 22.86 kg of MD, raw materials, and equipment used for drug production.
Odichinma, also known by the alias Dyke Ramond, reportedly moved to a rented flat in Mahesh Apartment in Evershine City, Vasai East with his girlfriend two months ago. The police’s action followed a tip-off about drug peddling activities in the area, leading them to intercept Raymond late Sunday night. Upon searching him, officers found 48 grams of cocaine in his possession.
The ANC team then raided his rented flat, uncovering chemicals and equipment used to manufacture drugs. The search also led to the discovery of a fake passport, though no visa or rental agreement could be found, according to Avinash Ambure, Deputy Commissioner of Police, MBVV Crime Branch.
Further investigation revealed another flat on the fourth floor of the same building, where additional chemicals and raw materials for making MD were found. Raymond allegedly told the police that the second flat was rented by another Nigerian, Igvenuba Chimaobi, who is now being sought by the authorities.
Raymond, who has been in India since 2014, had a previous narcotics-related case filed against him at the Azad Maidan Police Station. According to Raymond, he entered India on a tourist visa and never returned. He also claimed to have worked for television serials and movies, including the newly released Sikandar, though the police are verifying his statements.
