A crime branch team of the Gurugram police arrested a Nigerian drug peddler, identified as Praise Osibe (28), on Tuesday near Paras Buildtech, Sector-54, Gurugram. The arrest was made after 13.8 grams of illegal MDMA were found in her possession.
Osibe, who currently resides in Lohia Apartment, Mehrauli, Delhi, is originally from Nigeria. Police learned that she had been given the drugs for distribution by another Nigerian man from Delhi. In addition to her role as a drug peddler, Osibe works as a cook in various homes in Delhi.
A case has been filed against her under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act at the Sector-53 police station in Gurugram. During initial questioning, the police discovered that she had been living in India since 2011. Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation into her visa, passport, and connections to other individuals involved in the drug trade. Further actions will be taken based on the facts uncovered during the investigation.
This arrest comes on the heels of Gurugram police’s “Operation Akraman,” a significant anti-crime drive aimed at tackling illegal activities such as drug and liquor smuggling. The operation led to the registration of 71 FIRs, the arrest of 118 individuals—including 48 proclaimed offenders—and the recovery of substantial contraband. Items seized during the operation include illegal liquor, ganja, MDMA, and other illicit materials, highlighting the ongoing efforts of the police to combat crime in the region.
