A Nigerian national, Chukwumeka Wisdom Onyeka (also known as Victor Chukwu and Divine Chukwu Emeka), along with three others, was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) and Narsingi Police during a major drug bust in Hyderabad.
The raid took place at an apartment in the upscale Anuhar Coral Bells residential complex, Manikonda, following intelligence that revealed an active drug supply network spanning Goa and Hyderabad. Authorities seized narcotics worth Rs30 lakh, including 107 grams of cocaine, 25 grams of ecstasy pills, and six mobile phones used for coordinating deals.
Onyeka, 22, originally from Imo State, Nigeria, was reportedly studying Information Technology at Gokul Global University, Gujarat, while residing in Goa. He had a prior drug-related arrest in 2023 and is believed to have used multiple fake passports and student visas to operate.
Among the other arrested were Gopishetty Rajesh (40), a wedding planner with previous drug offenses, and Bommadevara Veera Raju (32), a real estate and car dealer linked to narcotics cases. Both had transitioned from users to distributors, leveraging their social connections and frequent trips to Goa to strengthen supplier ties.
Officials suspect the operation is led by a Nigerian kingpin using aliases like Max, Princewel, Buchi, and Gabriel. The cartel reportedly employs African nationals posing as students in India to facilitate drug distribution.
Several suppliers based in Nigeria and Goa, along with customers in Hyderabad, have been identified as part of ongoing investigations.
The TGANB urged parents to stay vigilant against youth drug abuse and warned that all involved—suppliers, consumers, or celebrities—would face strict action. “We will track and apprehend offenders anywhere, anytime,” the bureau stated.
