GLOUCESTERSHIRE, UK | June 2025 — Actor Nigel Adams was arrested on the set of the Disney+ drama series Rivals while still in costume, following allegations of assault against his ex-girlfriend.
The 45-year-old supporting actor was detained by six police officers at Berkeley Castle on June 4, where filming for the show’s second season was in progress. Adams had reportedly just finished filming a polo scene with co-star Danny Dyer when officers arrived in two marked vehicles.
According to sources on set, cast and crew were left stunned as Adams, a former bricklayer turned actor, was led away in handcuffs in full costume.
Incident Dates Back to May 31
The arrest stems from an alleged assault on May 31 at a property in Weston-super-Mare. Police were called to the scene at 2:00 a.m., following reports of a domestic altercation involving Adams and his former partner.
Authorities confirmed the arrest and said that Adams is under investigation. No formal charges have been announced as of yet.
The incident has sparked a wave of media attention, particularly given the high-profile setting and involvement in a major streaming series. Rivals, based on the Jilly Cooper novel of the same name, is one of Disney+’s high-profile UK productions.
