Danbury Woman Arrested for DUI in Wilton After Crashing Vehicle
WILTON, Conn. (WFSB) — Nicole Shivonne Whitaker, 39, of Danbury, was arrested on DUI charges following a crash in Wilton on Monday.
According to police, Whitaker was driving northbound on Danbury Road when she hit a curb. She continued driving and eventually pulled into the driveway at Crossways, but her vehicle had significant damage — two flat tires, a broken rim, and damage to the rear right passenger door.
Whitaker told officers she was distracted while looking at her phone, but police noted that she had the strong smell of alcohol on her breath. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she reportedly failed. When asked to submit to chemical testing, Whitaker refused.
She was arrested and later released after posting 7% of her $300 bond. Whitaker is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
