Ellenville, NY — A Wallkill woman was arrested after state troopers found an illegally possessed handgun during a traffic stop in Ellenville on Thursday evening.
According to New York State Police, at around 6:08 p.m. on October 16, troopers from the Ellenville barracks pulled over a 2013 Hyundai on North Main Street for a traffic violation.
The driver, 41-year-old Nicole Petrone, was discovered to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license and driving an unregistered car. A subsequent vehicle search led to the recovery of a Sig Sauer P365 .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun and two magazines, both possessed illegally.
Petrone was charged with criminal use of a firearm in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree.
She was arraigned at the Wawarsing Town Court Central Arraignment Part and released under pretrial supervision pending future court appearances.
